April Fools

On April Fools, Meagan and I decided to play a little joke on our friends and posted away messages that read: "Anybody know any good baby names?" Well, the responses we received were quite funny. Only three of them contained actual names, all of which were the same names as the person who responded (Wade, Jeff, and Aaron).

Here are the responses:

PG: are you kidding?
BT: is meagan pregnant????!!!!!!!
JD: Tell me that's an april fools joke.
JD: Name it after me.
JD: and by that i mean name it "Cool"
JK: becca fell for it. she just imed me. and asked if meagan was pregnant. and told me to check your away message. it was great. that was a good one. but you failed to get the bestman
JB: is there a reason why you both want baby names ????
M: whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
M: stop it
MN: why?
MN: you are dumb. it is April Fool's and that is not funny. You are dumb. Thank it all. - The Managment
NG: are you serious!?!?!?!?!?
W: "Wade" is a very nice name, just fyi

The next day we posted an away message: "We decided to name the baby April.... April Fools."

NG: you guys are bad!!!
NG: and i'm dumb!
SP: oh my gosh!!! that was such a good april fools joke!!

New Theme

I have started moving Jalbrant.com to its new theme which will be strongly based on the SpreadFirefox theme. During this time the site may experience minor hiccups.

I was using Manji, but unfortunatly it's 2 column design did not work well with what I wanted to do. It is a great theme and I encourage everyone to give it a shot.

Spring Training 2005!

Well we're back from Padres Spring Training in Peoria, Arizona. We had a great time. This time Meagan came along and I think enjoyed baseball for once! I brought all my cameras and Jared brought his, right now we're working on putting together a DVD to remember the trip by.

Final scores for the games we went to:

Rangers 2 Padres 4 in Peoria, AZ
Padres 6 Giants 4 in Scottsdale, AZ
DiamondBacks 9 Padres 17 in Yuma, AZ

This year, we had the opportunity to eat at Oreganos not once, but twice! If you've never been there, I suggest stopping by the next time you're in the Phoenix area. They have long waits but the service is extraordinary, food is great, environment is unique, and prices are reasonable.

AAVOnline v1.1.8 on short final

I have just finished the last fix/new feature for v1.1.8 of AAVOnline and will be releasing the latest version very soon.

New to this version includes multiple bug fixes, improved FSUIPC code, better Flight Detection, better logging support, closer to 100% compliance with FxCop, added buttons to the flight report form to get the zulu time from flight simulator (EZFrep feature), and GUI updates.

The latest version will be available through the regular channels once it is ready.

I hope this is the last version before v1.2.0.

AAVOnline v1.1.4 and v1.1.6 released

I have released versions 1.1.4 and 1.1.6 over the past two days. v1.1.4 adds numerous bug fixes including making the automatic flight reporting rock solid. I had planned on v1.1.4 to come out much sooner than it did but spent a lot of time bringing it into compliance with Microsoft's FxCop. In doing so, AAVOnline is now more scaleable and betters classes and interfaces for the future. v1.1.6 was released today and includes a small fix to correct the problem with the main form not showing up that was reported on AAV's forums this morning. It also adds logging support for future debugging purposes.

As always, you can pick up the latest version by running AAVOnline with "Check for Updates" turned on or click here: http://www.albrant.com/aav/AAVOnline1_1_6.zip

Work on v1.1.8 has begun and I'll have to wait and see what the response to v1.1.6 is before I decide whether or not to roll v1.1.8's features into v1.2.0. v1.2.0 will include semi-instant messaging (v1.1.4 already has portions of it built in) and a few other goodies.

AAVOnline v1.1.2 ready to go

With this latest version I have accomplished the goals I set out for it and feel it is ready for primetime. However, I must run a few tests tonight before it is completely ready to make sure there are no kinks and that v1.1.4 can go along as planned.

Assuming I release it tonight here is what it will have:
* Improved automatic flight reporting
* Improved automatic flight info
* Metars for arriving and departing airports displayed on main window
* Track history drawn on minimaps
* AAVOnline version added to pilot data
* Improved timetable
* Better memory usage and performance
* Fixed Arrived-Taxiing/Enroute problem in flight status
* Globe maintains aspect ratio when window stretched
* Selected pilot's tracks are shown in red on globe

That's all for now, remember, if you have any problems, concerns, wishes, unwishes, whatever with AAVOnline please let me know or fill out an issue report :D

* Added tracks to minimap
* AAVOnline version added to pilot details
* Scrolling marquee-style metars for departure and arrival airports
* Automatic flight info brings up a selection box if multiple flights use the same flight number
* Minimap now doublebuffered
* Globe keeps aspect ratio during a resize of the window
* Selected pilot's tracks on globe are now red

That's all for now!
